This training is to help youth workers to understand and respect autistic people more, which in turn will build bridges and better connections with the autistic community.
Learning Outcomes:
Following from Level 1, we will be exploring some of the ways that autistic people will express themselves in everyday life and in conversation with others. Some autistic terms have been more commonly used within the autistic community and can help us as youth workers to understand them more and why they express themselves in the way that they do. We will also help participants understand the ways trauma presents with autistic people and how we, as youth workers can change our practice to better support autistic people in our groups.
