The Impact of Psychological Trauma

This full day training is inline with The Scottish Psychological Training Plan and explores the links between trauma, ACEs, addiction, mental health and the criminal justice system.

Who is this for?

Youth workers that work face to face offering support for young people that may have experienced Trauma. Youth Workers offering 1:1 wellbeing support, Snr Youth Workers and Youth Work Managers.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand & Define Trauma in the context of an Overwhelming Distressing or Disturbing Emotional Event
  • Understanding the Impact on the lives of the Individual
  • Understand Coping Strategies used by those who have experienced Trauma
  • Understand & Communicate Effectively with those who have experienced Trauma
  • The course includes large group discussions, small group activities, context film clips and reflection.

Duration: 1 day

Please note: There will be a half day training session made available for Sessional Workers and Volunteers after the Summer Months. These sessions will cover the basis of this learning but a reduced content in relation to their roles/work with young people.
