Self-Harm: An Introduction

This introductory-level awareness training supports youth workers and volunteers to build a basic understanding of what self-harm is and how to respond.

This is an introductory course for youth workers and volunteers who may not yet be working directly with service users that self-harm, but who want to have a basic understanding of how to respond and what support you can direct a person to. The session will help to build confidence to explore supportive conversations on self-harm.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Introduce and develop your understanding of self-harm
  • Gain access to resources to support those using self-harm as a coping strategy
  • Information on skilled level training to support self-harm awareness and skills development

Duration: 2 hours

An additional full day skills training is available for those working specifically on a 1:1 basis or if self-harm is more prevalent within your service.  For further information or to register your interest please contact our training team by email – training@youthscotland.org.uk
