Youth Scotland and our Area Association partners exist to support universal, inclusive, community-based youth work for all young people in Scotland.
We want to build a country where every young person has access to safe, welcoming spaces – whoever they are and wherever they are.
On Tuesday, Girlguiding announced changes to their membership criteria in response to the Supreme Court ruling on the meaning of ‘sex’ in the Equality Act 2010. We understand that these decisions are being made because of a complex and challenging legal context, and that colleagues across the sector are working hard to navigate this with care for the young people they support.
We will work with partners across the youth work sector to understand the implications of legal changes and to advocate for a Scotland where every young person—especially minority groups including trans young people—can belong, participate and thrive.
Youth Scotland’s network will continue to champion inclusive practice with our members and support them to provide high-quality youth work that upholds young people’s rights and dignity
Whoever you are, wherever you are
Our vision is of a Scotland where every young person has access to safe, welcoming spaces to have fun, build friendships and shape their own lives – whoever they are and wherever they are. Find out more
