CareerSense Find Your Path

CareerSense Find Your Path is an employability programme for young people aged 16-24 based in Edinburgh, with 6 weeks of skills training sessions to ensure you feel ready for work, followed by a 4 week paid work placement at Royal Bank of Scotland/ NatWest in Gogarburn. It is running from March – May 2024.

Skills Sessions

Sessions will support young people to explore their key skills, develop a positive work mindset, and learn about career pathways, the workplace and applying for jobs.

10am – 4pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays starting from 12 March and lasting 6 weeks. Based at Youth Scotland, Balfour House, 19 Bonnington Grove, EH6 4BL.

Mentoring

8 sessions of one to one mentor support to help young people create a personal work profile, build a professional relationship, and set goals for the future.

Dates, times and locations to be organised between the mentors and participants.

Work Experience

Work insight days and a work placement to exercise new skills and build confidence. Paid the National Living Wage.

Starting 22 April and lasting four weeks, full time (up to 35 hours depending on the placement). Based at Royal Bank of Scotland, 175 Glasgow Road, EH12 9SB.

Who can take part?

Young people aged 16-24 who are not in education or employment and are:

  • Near work-ready but lack experience, confidence and networks.
  • Starting to develop soft skills and a work-ready attitude but whose needs have not been met through existing provision.
  • Interested in opportunities and further developing themselves.
  • Facing additional barriers, e.g. those who are care experienced, have mental health or learning difficulties or low levels of qualification.
  • A UK resident or have the right to work in the UK.
  • Able to attend programme sessions in person.
