Getting Started with Bluesky

Many of our members have asked questions or raised concerns about some of the bigger social media platforms recently.

If Twitter/X no longer feels like the right fit for you or your youth group, Bluesky could be something you might want to consider. If it looks and works a lot like Twitter from before the X changes, that’s deliberate!

Youth Scotland has been using Bluesky as one of our main channels for several months, alongside Facebook, Instagram and our regular E-newsletter. While we maintain our Twitter profile, so people who have not engaged with us for a while might find where we are most active, we are not posting there.

What is Bluesky?

Put simply, Bluesky is a social media service that focuses on short-form posts, like Twitter/X does. It was created by the former head of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, and he once said he wants it to be a decentralised version of Twitter that no one person or company owns.
