Freelance Youth Arts Worker (Brass Blast)
Oi Musica is seeking an experienced youth worker (part time, 10 hours/week) to join their award-winning youth music project Brass Blast. You will join a dedicated and motivated team of creative music educators, playing a key role in supporting young people from all backgrounds to get the most out of attending.
Brass Blast is the permanent Oi Musica youth project in East Edinburgh, welcoming 80 young people aged 9-19 across 4 groups after school every Tuesday. Their approach is non-formal, inclusive and fun, and Brass Blast is open access, proactively working to broaden participation in music, particularly amongst young people who would otherwise miss out.
They are seeking an experienced youth worker to join the team, taking responsibility for all youth work and welfare aspects of the programme. Key tasks & responsibilities include getting to know young people & families and acting as a friendly point of contact; pastoral care; supporting young people to get the most out of Brass Blast, including those with additional needs; keeping registers & records; writing up reports and helping plan sessions; running youth committee meetings and evaluation activities; child protection and safeguarding; general project administration.
The successful applicant will have experience of working directly with young people, supporting them to overcome challenges and achieve. A passion for youth arts, access and inclusion and up to date knowledge of safeguarding and child protection is essential.
