What is the SCQF?
The Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) is a way of comparing the wide range of Scottish qualifications. It covers achievements from school, college, university, and work-based qualifications, and now also includes the Youth Achievement Awards. Each qualification is given a level and a number of credit points.
- Level – There are 12 levels within the framework which indicate the complexity of learning.
- Credit – Credit points show the volume of learning undertaken to achieve the qualification.
The SCQF enables employers, learners and the public in general to understand the full range of Scottish qualifications and how different types of qualifications can contribute to improving the skills of the workforce.
