Youth Achievement Awards

Youth Achievement Awards offer a peer assessed approach to recognising and accrediting achievements and contributions of young people aged 14 plus.

External Moderation

The Youth Achievement Awards recognise the work and commitment of young people aged 14 + across Scotland using a nationally recognised accreditation framework.  They are designed to encourage young people to take a more active role in their youth work activities.

Young people who are completing Youth Achievement Awards come together to form an award group who are responsible for approving each other's challenges. This group helps to review and award challenge certificates prior to national accreditation. It follows the straightforward good practice ‘Plan-Do-Review’, with the added value of peer assessment and a nationally recognised certificate.

External moderation events are held regularly. They provide quality assurance feedback to youth workers who are supporting the delivery of the awards, and qualifications authority certification for award participants.

The next Youth Achievement Awards external moderation events are:

15th April 2010 - Stevenson College, Edinburgh.  Paperwork to be returned to Youth Scotland by 5th April

17th June 2010 - East Renfrewshire

25th August 2010 – South Lanarkshire

27th October 2010 – Stirling

8th December 2010 – Angus

Booking forms for External Moderation will be sent to Operating Agency main contacts approximately four weeks prior to the event. All bookings should be made via your Operating Agency.
