The Awards Network

The Volunteering Action Plan aims to attract more volunteers to the youth work sector and to improve support and development opportunities for youth work volunteers.

For the first time in Scotland, a meeting of award providers took place in March 2008 to discuss opportunities for joint working to promote and highlight the various award schemes available to young people in Scotland.  Members of the network are working together to produce an awards guide detailing the various awards and highlighting the contribution of the award schemes to young people’s achievement.

This guide is called Amazing Things and is available to download below. It is aimed at young people, youth work organisations, schools, universities and employers and provides information about the schemes which:

  • Offer an individual learning award for young people aged 12 to 25 years
  • Operate Scotland-wide, and
  • Use a youth work approach

The awards network also held an awards conference on Monday 6th October 2008 in Edinburgh. For details of this conference including an event summary click here.
