Take the Lead

Take the Lead is a new partnership between Sports Leaders UK and Youth Scotland and aims to increase the range of personal development and leadership opportunities available to young people across Scotland.

The project will provide young people in community settings with access to a range of courses which build confidence, develop leadership skills and provide progression routes into further training and delivery.

We will be providing training directly to young people and will also train workers to enable them to deliver the Sports Leaders UK programmes directly to young people.

Phase 1 of the programme includes the following training opportunities for young people and workers:

Day Certificate

The Day Certificate is a hands-on, practical and fun course which provides a good introduction to leadership.

Direct training for young people is divided into 8 small and simple sections of work and covers skills including communication for sport, taking control of a group and organisation.

We are also providing training for workers, which will enable workers to themselves deliver the Sports Leaders UK Day Certificate to young women themselves.

Age range: 15+

Delivery Model: 1 day (7 hours) 10am – 4pm  or over 2 evenings (2 x 3 hours) 6pm – 9pm

Women Get Set, Go

Women Get Set, Go is a personal development programme specifically for women and girls. It encourages girls and young women to develop their confidence and to explore the idea of taking on a leadership role.

The workshop is for women who are interested in running a Women Get Set Go course with their own groups and will include both information and active examples of how to deliver each unit. 10.30am – 2.30pm

Age range for delivery: 14+

Duration: 15 hours

Delivery Mode: Tutor training with follow-up support
