Outward Bound Introduction to Leadership Course
This Girls on the Move residential course aims to encourage participants to explore their capabilities and broaden their horizons. The theme of leadership will run strongly throughout the weekend, addressing issues such as;
- the differences between participation and leadership
- what makes a good leader
- effective communication, and
- working with groups.
The course will act as an introduction to leadership and there will be a number of workshop/ discussion sessions run in a small, safe group environment. Outdoor activities will be used as vehicles for learning about taking responsibility and goal setting.
Participants will learn to manage their own time, solve problems, become an effective team player and develop essential leadership skills.
Who should apply?
Young women aged 16 - 25 are invited to apply.
This course is suitable for young women who have participated in physical activity and are thinking about taking on a leadership role, but who perhaps lack the confidence to apply for other Girls on the Move Leadership courses. At the end of the weekend it is hoped that that participants will have gained the knowledge and confidence to make the next step.
To apply, download the application form here.
