Those groups that fit the Girls on the Move criteria may be interested to know that the Big Lottery Fund has funding available to encourage people to be more physically active in the lead up to 2014 Commonwealth games, in the shape of their 2014 Communities grants porgramme.
2014 Communities is a new micro grants programme, offering local sports clubs, voluntary and community organisations, community councils and schools grants of £300 to £1,000 to support and stimulate grass roots involvement in sport and physical activity.
This funding will prioritise low participation groups such as women and girls, people with disabilities, people under 25 years of age and people from black and minority ethnic communities.
