First Aid Ready - Are You?
Youth Scotland's Young People Taking the Lead project provides the opportunity for young people aged 14yrs+ to become First Aid Peer Educators. In partnership with St. Andrew's First Aid, Peer Educators will be able to deliver Emergency First Aid courses, workshops and awareness sessions.
You will be part of a national programme, gaining support from First Aid Mentors, get a first aid certificate, learn the skills to become a Peer Educator, an opportunity to undertake a Youth Achievement Award and get your volunteer hours recognised with Saltire Awards.
This video made by the British Red Cross, shows one example of how first aid can save lives, First Aid Ready - Are You, is a Emergency First Aid course delivered by young people for young people and will use their skills, knowledge and experiences to inform young people of how to stay safe, act wisely and how to deal with situations that could involve alcohol, drugs or knife injuries.
Training takes place over two full days or over a weekend residential setting. There are 4 scheduled intakes of Peer Educators in 2016/17.
Groups or Projects
If you have young people at your project and would like to undertake First Aid Ready training, we can support our Peer Educators to come along and provide the training they vitally need to help stay safe and save lives if called upon.
