Young Women and Physical Activity: A Quick Guide

Youth Scotland, the network of youth clubs and groups in Scotland, has recently produced a four page information supplement: Young Women and Physical Activity: A Quick Guide.

Written specifically for youth workers and youth work volunteers, the supplement provides a quick step by step guide to introducing physical activity into youth work programmes for young women.

This concise and practical information supplement highlights some of the key barriers that young women themselves have identified.

It provides a useful summary of the current national guidelines as well as listing a range of ideas for activities, from cycling projects, physical theatre workshops and dance sessions to ice-breakers and energiser activities.

The guide also contains a directory of Useful Links to organisations, training opportunities and youth work programmes that can support young women to get active through community-based youth work.
